Poker Range Trainer

Drill preflop starting-hand ranges one decision at a time — by position, with instant right-or-wrong feedback and spaced repetition so the ranges actually stick.

What Is a Poker Range Trainer?

A preflop range is the full set of starting hands you play a certain way from a given position — for example, every hand you open-raise from the button. A range chart shows you that set as a static 13×13 grid, which is useful as a reference but doesn't test whether you actually know it.

A range trainer turns that chart into practice: you're shown one starting hand at a time and have to make the decision yourself — raise, call, fold, or whatever the spot calls for — before you see the answer. Repeating that, with spaced repetition bringing back the hands you get wrong more often, is what turns a range you've looked at into a range you actually know at the table.

How the PokerAC Range Trainer Works

  1. Pick a range from your library — a default PokerAC range or one you've built yourself — and open its trainer.
  2. You're shown one starting hand from the 13×13 grid and choose an action for it (open, call, 3-bet, fold, or whatever that scenario uses).
  3. You get instant feedback — correct or not, plus an EV score — against how that range is actually painted.
  4. Switch between Practice (drill all 169 hands, unlimited, anytime) and Review (spaced-repetition mode that resurfaces exactly the hands you're due to see again, and schedules the ones you got wrong sooner).

The correct action for each hand is whatever that range was set up to represent — PokerAC doesn't run a live solver, so accuracy depends on the range itself (the defaults below, or your own).

Practice Preflop Ranges by Position

PokerAC's default cash-game library covers 100bb 6-max preflop spots across two decision types:

  • RFI (raise first in) opening ranges for UTG, MP, CO, BTN, and SB — the hands you raise with when the action folds to you.
  • vs Open — call/3-bet decisions in the big blind and from later positions, across the common position match-ups (for example BB vs a BTN open, or CO vs a UTG open).

The library also includes one 4-bet spot. It's a growing set of real starting-hand ranges, not a chart for every possible preflop situation.

Practice Your Own Ranges

PokerAC isn't limited to the default library. With a free account you can build your own ranges by hand on a visual 13×13 grid — for cash games, tournaments, or Spin & Go — and train them the same way, with the same Practice and spaced-repetition Review modes. Ranges can be exported to and imported from JSON, so you can back them up or bring in a set you've built elsewhere.
